Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 2026 — Simple, transparent, minimal.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies CoastalRange uses on sphinxroom.com, why we use them, and how you can control them.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the website to remember information — for example, that you have already confirmed your age. Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses. They are read-only records.

2. Cookies We Set — Strictly Necessary Only

CoastalRange sets only two first-party cookies. Both are strictly necessary for the Site to function as intended. We ask for your consent in the interest of transparency.

3. No Analytics Cookies by Default

CoastalRange does not use Google Analytics, Matomo, Hotjar, or any other analytics service. We do not set performance, behavioural, or advertising cookies. Our Google Consent Mode default sends analytics_storage: denied and ad_storage: denied — and since we operate no analytics or advertising tools, that consent is never solicited.

4. localStorage — Game State

Our game engine also writes to your browser’s localStorage under the key prefix pm_ (token count, sound settings, session preferences). This data is stored entirely on your device, never leaves your browser, is not accessible to any third party, and contains no personally identifiable information.

5. Third-Party Cookies

By default, no third-party cookies are set. Bootstrap (jsDelivr) and Google Fonts are served as static assets and do not set tracking cookies in our configuration. Browser extensions you have installed may interact with third-party domains independently.

6. How to Control Cookies in Your Browser

  • Google Chrome: Menu → Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Menu → Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Apple Safari (macOS): Safari menu → Settings → Privacy.
  • Apple Safari (iOS/iPadOS): Settings app → Safari → Privacy & Security → Block All Cookies.
  • Microsoft Edge: Menu → Settings → Cookies and site permissions.

Blocking pq_age_ok or pq_consent_v2 means the age gate and cookie banner will reappear on every visit. The game still functions, but preferences will not be saved.

7. How to Reset Your Consent

  1. Open browser developer tools (F12 or Cmd + Option + I on Mac).
  2. Navigate to the Application (Chrome/Edge) or Storage (Firefox) tab.
  3. Under Cookies, select sphinxroom.com.
  4. Delete the rows for pq_age_ok and pq_consent_v2.
  5. Reload the page — the age gate and cookie banner will reappear.

You can also clear all site data for sphinxroom.com via browser privacy or history settings. This also clears localStorage game data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change our cookie practices. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects when changes were made. Periodic review is encouraged.
