Privacy Notice

Last updated: May 2026 — Effective immediately.

CoastalRange (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the social entertainment platform at sphinxroom.com. This Notice explains how we handle information. There are no hidden clauses.

1. Who We Are

CoastalRange is operated from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. We are subject to Canada’s federal PIPEDA, British Columbia’s PIPA, and Quebec’s Loi 25 where applicable. Privacy contact: [email protected]

2. What We Collect

We collect the minimum necessary to provide a functional, age-gated experience:

  • Server logs: IP address, browser type, OS, referring URL, pages visited, timestamps — retained 14 days for security only, not linked to a personal profile.
  • Browser cookies: Two strictly necessary cookies: pq_age_ok (18+ confirmation, 365 days) and pq_consent_v2 (consent choice, 365 days). No others.
  • localStorage: Virtual token counts and session preferences stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser.

3. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or process:

  • Name, address, date of birth, or government-issued identification
  • Payment card numbers, bank details, or any financial information (no payment mechanism exists)
  • Email addresses, unless you contact us voluntarily
  • Precise geolocation data
  • Biometric data of any kind
  • Data from children under 18 — discovered submissions are deleted promptly

4. Third-Party Data Processors

CoastalRange does not engage advertising networks, analytics providers, social-media tracking pixels, or any third-party data broker. The only external resources loaded are Bootstrap CDN (jsDelivr) and Google Fonts, both of which may log your IP as part of serving static assets. No personal data collected by CoastalRange is shared with, sold to, or licensed to any third party.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use limited data solely to operate and secure the Site, remember your age-verification and consent decisions, save in-game progress locally on your device, and respond to voluntary email enquiries. We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or marketing.

6. Data Retention

Server access logs: 14 days, then auto-purged. Cookies: up to 365 days in your browser. localStorage: until you clear browser storage. Email correspondence: retained while relevant, no longer than 12 months unless legally required.

7. Your Rights Under PIPEDA, BC PIPA, and Loi 25

  • Access: Request a copy of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Withdrawal of consent: Clear your cookies and localStorage at any time via browser settings.
  • Complaint: Contact the OPC or OIPC BC.
  • Portability (Loi 25): Quebec residents may request data in a structured technological format.

To exercise rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

8. Security

The Site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Server-side access controls limit log access to authorised personnel. We conduct periodic reviews of data-handling practices. No internet transmission is completely secure.

9. International Transfers

Our hosting is in Canada. CDN assets (Bootstrap, Google Fonts) are served from globally distributed edge nodes and may transit jurisdictions outside Canada. Those transfers are governed by jsDelivr’s and Google’s own policies.

10. Children’s Privacy

CoastalRange is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. Contact [email protected] if you believe a minor has provided personal information and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Notice to reflect changes in practices or law. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
